Kimmy Schmidt's fictional novel, The Legends of Greemulax, is being published for real

The Legends of Greemulax, a fictional middle-grade novel from the Netflix sitcom Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, will be published for real with Montreal-born, New York-based writer Sarah Mlynowski attached to write.

The book was a plot point on the comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which follows a young woman's adjustment to life in modern day New York after being held in a bunker for 15 years. Kimmy Schmidt, played by Ellie Kemper, writes The Legends of Greemulax in hopes it will help explain sexism to young boys.

Mlynowski is the author of over 35 novels, including the Whatever After series, the Magic in Manhattan series and I See London, I See France. She will share the writing credit with Schmidt.

The book takes place in a world where a dragon has killed all women and girls. A young boy named Penn mourns their loss, while also worrying about the day he will become a monster like all the other men in his community. When Penn catches a young girl in a dragon trap, they embark on a journey to change their world.

The Legends of Greemulax will be published in April 2, 2019.

The fourth and final season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which was co-created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, was released on Netflix in January 2019.
