Make this everlasting DIY floral basket to add a touch of spring to any tabletop

Winter is officially over and if you are looking to add some spring into your life, pronto, I have just the thing for you! This quick and easy floral DIY will add everlasting blooms to your decor and your basket — one you could most definitely rock on your next trip to the farmers market. Easter egg hunts, tablescapes, brunch, weddings, it's so pretty deserves multiple appearances.  

Here's what you'll need:

• A variety of artificial silk flowers. I used:
  • 1 bunch of eucalyptus greens
  • 1 bunch of pussy willow
  • 1 bunch of wax flowers
  • 1 large garden rose
  • 2 small garden roses
  • 1 bunch lavender
  • 1 bunch orchids
  • 1 succulent
• Pliers
• Floral wire
• Scissors
• Glue gun and glue sticks
• 1 wire basket (I used one about 10 inches wide.)

Here's how to do it:

1. Begin by adding greens to your basket. Trim a piece of eucalyptus from your bunch, then cut a 4-inch piece of wire and secure it to the top left side of the basket by threading the wire through and around the basket and the eucalyptus a couple of times. Pull the wire tight, twisting the wire ends together and trim off excess leaving about 4 mm of the wire then fold over with pliers. Continue adding a few more pieces of eucalyptus focusing mostly around the left side of the basket and on the basket handle.

2. Now we can add some filler flowers like pussy willow and wax flowers. I kept my filler flowers approximately 6 inches long to create height and length in my arrangement. Secure them to the basket with wire. Feel free to play around with your arrangement by holding your flowers in different places before you commit to wiring them to the basket.

3. Now it's time to add the large, focal flower. Trim the stem off of, cut a 4 inch piece of wire and then secure it to the flower by lifting up the greens on the bottom and twisting around the base of your flower where the stem used to be. Attach to the basket by pulling wire through and twisting. Trim off excess wire and fold in using pliers.

4. Now let's fill in some of our empty spaces by adding some smaller roses. Add some hot glue to the side of a smaller rose and tuck it in beside the large flower. Hold in place for about 30 seconds until glue cools. Continue by adding other flowers like lavender, succulents and even orchids. I also added some green leaves to the bottom sides of my large rose for balance.

5. Time for some finishing touches!  Add some small wax flowers to the basket handle with hot glue and voila! You've just made yourself a beautiful spring basket!
