Burnaby shooting under investigation
RCMP are investigating multiple calls concerning shots being fired on Thursday night.
Police found a significant number of shells on 6th Street between 16th and 18th avenues
Reports of a shots being fired in south Burnaby, B.C., on Thursday night are under investigation by the RCMP.
Police said they were called to the area on 6th Street between 16th and 18th avenues around 10 p.m. PT.
They found a significant number of shell casings in the area. They're unsure if some damage found in the area was caused by a car crash.
"We've been out there most of the night conducting neighbourhood inquiries and protecting the evidence," said Staff Sgt. Major John Buis.
They're checking hospitals and police detachments around the Lower Mainland to see if there's any information about injured people or activity related to last night's gunfire.
It's unknown whether the incident was gang-related.
