Homicide investigators say a dark blue Acura LT has been linked to the 2018 shooting death of an Abbotsford teenager.

Jagvir Malhi,19, was shot at an Abbotsford intersection on Nov. 12 around 3:30 p.m. Officers found Malhi suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.

Investigators say the Acura was found on fire later that day near the area where the shooting took place.

Surveillance footage from the area also showed a white Mazda 3 following closely behind the Acura. Investigators believe the suspects fled in the Mazda shortly after setting the Acura on fire.

"Malhi was an unintended victim of what was a shooting targeting another individual," said the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team in a statement.

Although Malhi had no criminal history, investigators say some of the people in his life were involved in the Lower Mainland gang conflict.

He was attending university at the time of his death.
