A trust fund has been set up to assist the family of Julie Paskall, the Surrey woman who was slain outside a hockey rink in Newton on Dec. 29.

The funds will be used to support Paskall's family and cover additional expenses.

Paskall is survived by a son, 16, two adult daughters and her husband, Al Paskall.

Bill Hoadley, a family friend, says the family is deeply affected by the tragedy but wanted to express their thanks to the community for its support.

Paskall, 53, was found severely injured in the Newton Recreation Centre parking lot, the victim of a vicious assault while she was waiting to pick up her son after hockey. She died in hospital on Tuesday.

Surrey RCMP and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team continue their investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT Tipline at 1-877-551-4448, by email at [email protected].
