RCMP arrest target of Creep Catchers sting
Kuljinder Singh Bhatti was taken into custody Thursday
RCMP have arrested a man who was the subject of a Surrey Creep Catchers sting earlier this week.
A statement released Friday said Kuljinder Bhatti, 35, has been charged after allegedly trying to lure a minor for a sexual purpose.
Cpl. Scotty Schumann said the suspect is also accused of arranging for a sexual offence involving a person under the age of 18.
The officer said police were made aware of allegations against Bhatti — a local real estate agent — on Monday. He was arrested Thursday and remains in custody.
Vigilante sting
On Monday, Surrey Creep Catchers said they confronted a man they accused of trying to solicit a young person for sex.
The president of the controversial vigilante group, Ryan Laforge, was arrested that day for allegedly assaulting the subject of the sting.
A video posted online appeared to show Laforge pinning the man up against a wall and yelling at him.
Laforge was later released from custody on a promise to appear.
In Friday's statement, the RCMP said it is still investigating assault allegations stemming from Monday's incident.
