Brittany Powell, a 24-year-old from Kelowna, B.C., no longer has to worry about car payments, after winning $1 million in the Lotto Max draw last weekend.

Powell has been playing the lottery since she was 19, and bought the winning ticket at a gas station in Cache Creek, according to a press release from the B.C. Lottery Corporation.

"I'm thrilled and I'm going through the motions but the reality is yet to sink in," said Powell in the release.

Powell plans to spend some of her winnings on paying off her Jeep and going on a backpacking trip — in addition to a celebratory meal at her favourite pub.
