Man arrested after bomb threat at B.C. ferry terminal
A bomb threat forcedthe temporary disruption of ferry services at the Tsawwassen, B.C., ferry terminal late Sunday afternoon, the second such incident at the terminalin about four months, police say.
Delta police said they responded to a call about a bomb threat attheterminalat about 5 p.m. after someone reported overhearing a man saying he was going to set off a bomb on the Spirit of Vancouver Island.
BC Ferries staff detained the man until police arrived, according to witnesses.
Upon arrival, police took a 32-year-old man into custody and seized his bag. His identity was not immediately released.
Sniffer dogs scoured the terminal after evacuating it and also checked the vessel when it arrived at Swartz Bay.
On July 28,a bomb threat was made against BC Ferries' vessels and passengers, subsequently forcing the cancellations of 21 sailings between terminals near Vancouver and Victoria.
As a result of the July 28 incident, thousands of summer travellers were strandedfor up to six hours, prompting a police investigation and an increase offerry security by the company.
