Water supply running low in Lions Bay after B.C. storm

Lions Bay residents have been urged to restrict their use of water after landslides caused by the heavy battering of rainfall damaged the two creeks that feed their water supply.

The community, with approximately 1,400 people on the Sea to Sky Highway, might run out of water and has been urged to conserve as much as possible. 

The Harvey water intake — one of its two water sources — started flowing again Thursday afternoon, but at a reduced capacity. The village does not have reservoirs or dams to keep water in and its two storage tanks were running very low. 

The mayor is pleading with people to use as little drinking water as possible, to avoid washing clothes and dishes and to cut back on showers. He's also advised residents collect rainwater that can be to fill water tanks so that toilets remain flushable.
