Calgary Expo postpones summer convention, promises update next month

The Calgary Expo 2021 has been postponed with no future date announced. It had previously been set to get underway in July or August.

Last year's edition of the popular event was cancelled due to COVID-19

The Calgary Expo was attended by thousands each year.

The organizers of the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo sent an email this week to ticket holders informing them that this year's event will be postponed.

The email explained that organizers were looking at other options to hold the event this year after previously eyeing July and August.

"Things change quickly and even though we're in the final stretch, our community's safety is our top priority," the email reads in part.

"We're working alongside the government and local authorities to take extra precautions and believe we will have a better chance of running an event for you if we plan something a bit later."

Those who already have tickets to the event will soon have the option to transfer to the new event date when it is announced, transfer to next's years expo or receive a refund, the email reads.

The annual event, typically attended by thousands, was cancelled entirely last year in April due to the pandemic.

Calgary Expo said they have an announcement set for next month.
