Man charged after stolen U-Haul truck slams into 10 vehicles
Daryl Lee Noble, 39, faces 9 charges
A Calgary man is facing nine charges after someone that police believe was high on drugs tore through the city in a stolen U-Haul truck, slamming into 10 vehicles — including five police cars.
The truck sped through the city, running red lights and driving into oncoming traffic, before 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Calgary Police Service said.
Daryl Lee Noble, 39, has been charged with:
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
- Failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
- Flight from a police officer.
- Driving an uninsured motor vehicle.
- Driving with a suspended licence.
- Theft of a motor vehicle.
- Three counts of breaching a court order.
Staff Sgt. Mark England said at a news conference Thursday that investigators believe Noble was under the influence of drugs at the time, though he was unable to specify which ones.
Noble was known to police before this incident, England added.
Police believe more vehicles may have been involved and expect the total level of damage to rise as more people come forward.
The investigation is still ongoing.
