Premier Rachel Notley has been invited to address the federal cabinet and meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a retreat in Alberta this weekend.

Notley's spokeswoman Cheryl Oates said the premier plans to talk to Trudeau about the need for a pipeline to the coast and Edmonton's exclusion from recent EI changes.

The federal cabinet is holding their three-day retreat in Kananaskis Country, at a mountain resort 85 km west of Calgary.

Notley will speak to the media about her meeting with the prime minister Sunday evening.

She last met with Trudeau when he visited the Alberta legislature in early February.

Notley has been vocal in opposing the Edmonton region's exclusion from expanded EI benefits while they were provided for the rest of Alberta.
