His name is Henry.

He may lose a leg, but he's winning hundreds of hearts.

The tiny, grey kitten was found not long ago at the side of a highway, severely injured after being struck by a vehicle.

Someone took him to an emergency veterinary clinic, where he was bandaged and put on IV. Because he was a stray, he was transferred to the Edmonton Humane Society.

There, staff looked at his injuries and wondered if he would survive.

They named him Henry.

He had a gaping wound and exposed tendons on one back leg. One front leg was badly dislocated. He also had head trauma.

The humane society veterinary team went to work on Henry and started him on the road to recovery.

He will stay in foster care, for now, and will have regular check-ups at the humane society. Over the coming weeks, he will be monitored to see if his head injury has any lasting effect. The staff still think his front leg may have to be removed.

Now they've set about raising money on the website gofundme to help pay for Henry's care.

The goal was $5,000. They've already raised more than $6,000.

Any money left over will go to help other sick and injured animals at Edmonton Humane Society.
