Two more lower-city Hamilton streets are being converted to two-way traffic.

As of Monday, Bold Street and Duke Street will go both ways between James Street South and Queen Street South. Bold will remain one way west of Queen Street.

These are the latest of eight street conversions city council approved in May 2014.

The delay, city staff have said, is mostly to do with time and money.

Each conversion involves signs, pavement markings and stop signs. Council must set aside money in the capital budget each year for the projects.

Here are some other two-way conversions that have already been approved:

  • Wentworth Street South from Delaware Avenue to King Street East.
  • Wentworth Street North from King Street East to Barton Street East.
  • Victoria Avenue North from Barton Street East to Burlington Street East.
  • Hughson Street North from Wilson Street to Barton Street East.
  • King William Street from John Street North to Wellington Street North.
  • Caroline Street North from King Street to York Boulevard.
  • Park Street North from York Boulevard to Barton Street West.
  • Hess Street North from York Boulevard to Barton Street West.

The city recommends that drivers, cyclists and pedestrians be cautious over the coming months.
