New wave 80s throwbacks Men Without Hats and Psychedelic Furs are headlining this year's Festival of Friends, alongside Canadian rock acts Big Wreck and Junkhouse, and Grammy winner Travis Tritt.

The 40th annual event is happening at the Ancaster Fairgrounds from Friday, Aug. 7 to Sunday, Aug. 9.

Each day of the festival runs with a different theme. The Friday show was clearly booked for new wave fans, and features Men Without Hats and Psychedelic Furs, still best known for the hits Safety Dance and Pretty in Pink, respectively.

Friday's lineup is rounded out by Montreal's The Box, probably best known for 1987's Closer Together.

Saturday is a showcase of heavier music, with resurgent Canadian rock band Big Wreck leading the bill, alongside Hamilton's much-loved Junkhouse.

Saturday night's lineup also includes the Chris Jericho-led Fozzy, Hamilton Music Award Winners Sumo Cyco, and Current Swell.

Sunday's show includes Grammy-winning country artist Travis Tritt, singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie and Cold Creek County.

Other confirmed acts include:

  • Harrison Kennedy
  • Steve Sinnicks
  • Lost in Film
  • Number Stations
  • Ascot Royals
  • Goodnight Sunrise
  • John & Jacob
  • Whitney Rose
  • The River and the Road
