Two Guelph men charged in blue fentanyl investigation, police seize nearly $90K worth of drugs
Police also seize cash, crossbows and stolen property from city's west end
Two Guelph men have been charged following an investigation into the trafficking of blue and purple fentanyl, police say.
Guelph police say they began an investigation in January specifically looking at the drug, and partnered with Owen Sound police to find the source of the fentanyl.
On March 15, two people were arrested and about $9,400 worth of blue fentanyl was seized.
As part of the investigation, two search warrants were executed in Guelph's west end and two more men were arrested. Police seized 266 grams of purple and blue fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $80,000.
Officers also seized Canadian and American money, two crossbows, a police-style expandable baton, pepper spray and approximately $2,000 worth of stolen property.
A 59-year-old Guelph man has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
A 44-year-old Guelph man has been charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a prohibited weapon and nine counts of possession of a weapon contrary to order.
Police say there is a warrant out for a third person in relation to the case.
