Elderly shoppers are reportedly having their purses stolen from their shopping carts while running errands in Waterloo region, according to regional police.

Elderly shoppers are reportedly having their purses stolen from shopping carts while running errands in Waterloo region, according to regional police.
Since Oct. 24, investigators have received 11 reports of purses being stolen from shopping carts at various locations around the region.
Most of the victims have been elderly women, according to Const. Andre Johnson.
"It really is a crime of opportunity so we are asking people to be vigilant, and be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity immediately," Johnson told CBC News.
Johnson said any victims who have not yet reported their theft to police should contact investigators immediately.
