Transportation Minister Jeff Yurek to make an announcement in Kitchener Monday
Ontario Transportation Minister Jeff Yurek is due to make an announcement in Kitchener at the train station Monday afternoon.
Yurek will be joined by Leslie Woo, the chief planning and development officer of Metrolinx.
The announcement is set for 2 p.m.
The Kitchener announcement comes after the province announced on Friday it's adding an extra daily roundtrip from Niagara to Toronto starting next month.
Yurek has been criticized by Waterloo MPP Catherine Fife after she said the province is delaying the start of two-way, all-day GO train service between Kitchener and Toronto.
Fife has said new plans by Metrolinx appear to show two-way, all-day GO wouldn't come to Kitchener until 2025 at the earliest, or 2030 at the latest.
Yurek said earlier this month he and the Progressive Conservative MPPs from Waterloo region have continued to work on the file and the government would soon be making an announcement "that I think you'll be happy with."
