RCMP surround home in Winnipeg's Charleswood neighbourhood

There was a heavy police presence in Winnipeg's Charleswood neighbourhood on Thursday morning.

There was a heavy police presence in Winnipeg's Charleswood neighbourhood on Thursday morning.

RCMP officers surrounded a home on Carlotta Crescent to execute a search warrant in an ongoing investigation, according to a spokesperson.

Several officers remained on the scene in the early afternoon and expect to be there for some time yet.

"The large police presence, initially, was to ensure the safety of the officers involved, and the public," said RCMP Sgt. Bert Paquet.

"At this point, any further details could undermine the ongoing investigation. We will not be providing further details or interviews until our investigation has been completed."
