A festive sight in a small Winnipeg park has people stopping in their tracks.

Some local elves have been hanging decorations in tree branches, making the walk through Munson Park along the Assiniboine River much more colourful.

The park runs in a strip alongside Wellington Crescent, between Grosvenor Avenue and Kingsway, in the Crescentwood neighbourhood.

One of the people who has been decking the boughs said she and her husband started doing it four years ago and now other people have been adding to it.

Everything is collected after Christmas and any broken decorations are cleaned up so there is no litter, said the woman, who asked to remain anonymous.

She has overheard people talking about it in the park, saying the "secret Santa has been at it again," and that's how she likes it.

That's the joy of giving — knowing others are enjoying it, she said.
