Police investigating two overnight homicides in Montreal area
Two victims shot in separate incidents in St-Léonard and Laval
Police are investigating two separate shooting deaths in the Montreal area that occurred early Sunday morning.
Around 1:30 a.m., police received reports of a shooting at the intersection of Langelier Boulevard and Lacoursière Street in the St-Léonard borough.
Police arrived to find a 19-year-old man who had been shot at least once in the upper body.
He died of his wounds soon after in hospital.
Police are searching for suspects and interviewing witnesses.
Investigators are looking into whether the shooting was gang-related.
The killing is Montreal’s 19th homicide of 2014, down from 22 homicides at this time last year.
Laval’s first homicide of 2014
A second shooting Sunday morning claimed the life of a man in his 20s in Laval — the city’s first homicide of 2014.
The incident happened around 2:30 a.m.
Police say the man was involved in an argument with another person in a bar on Hôtel-de-Ville Boulevard in Ste-Dorothée.
The two men took the argument outside and that's when the victim was shot.
It’s unclear if the victim was shot by a lone assailant or if other suspects were involved.
Police have a number of witnesses who were interviewed and are currently searching for suspects and a weapon.
