Boil water advisory issued for Saint Andrews

A boil water advisory has been issued for Saint Andrews residents because of work that's being completed on the water treatment plant, according to a social media post by town officials.

Drinking water should be brought to rolling boil for 1 minute, advisory says

A boil water advisory has been issued for residents of Saint Andrews on the town's drinking water system.

Just before midnight on Tuesday, the town posted a message on social media saying the boil water advisory was put in place because of work being conducted on the water treatment plant by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health.

Residents are being told to bring water to a rolling boil for one minute, or two minutes for baby formula.

Unless advised otherwise, it isn't necessary to boil water for other household purposes besides drinking, preparing infant formula and juice, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking or dental hygiene, the advisory said.

Residents can shower and bathe using tap water but toddlers and infants should be sponge bathed to ensure no water is swallowed.

The post from the town says residents will be kept up to date on water testing over the next 48 to 72 hours.
