Charlene Johnson's father to run in her former district
The Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador has announced Ronald Johnson as their candidate in the district of Trinity-Bay de Verde.

Johnson is the father of former finance minister and previous Trinity-Bay de Verde member Charlene Johnson.
She left politics in September after representing the district for 11 years.
Since Charlene Johnson stepped down, there has been much anticipation as to who would step in as the PC candidate for the district.
PC Party President Mark Whiffen and Party Leader Paul David announced Saturday afternoon that Ronald Johnson was acclaimed at of the close of nominations.
Johnson joins Twitter
Shortly after the nomination, a new Twitter account was launched for Johnson.
"I am very excited to be the PC Party candidate in Trinity-Bay de Verde," he tweeted.
"I am ready to move forward together."
The Liberals had previously announced that Steve Crocker will be their candidate for the district.
The NDP nominations are still open, with the deadline set for Nov. 4.
Humber East
The Tories also sent out a press release on Saturday, naming two candidates for the district of Humber East.
The candidates are Larry Wells and Clarence Cantwell.
Voting for that nomination race will take place on Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Humber Valley United Church in Pasadena, and at the Royal Canadian Legion in Corner Brook.
The Liberals have announced Stelman Flynn as their candidate for Humber East.
