Dennis Hogan appointed CEO of WorkplaceNL
Hogan is replacing Leslie Galway, whose contract ends Oct. 1
Dennis Hogan is the new chief executive officer of WorkplaceNL — formerly known as the Workplace Health, Safety & Compensation Commission of Newfoundland and Labrador — effective Oct. 2.
The news was announced in a press release Friday afternoon.
"Mr. Hogan's professional and academic experiences will serve him well as he promotes workplace health and safety and supporting injured workers," Eddie Joyce, minister responsible for WorkplaceNL, said in the release.
"I welcome him to this position and am confident that the organization will benefit from his leadership."
The appointment was decided by the Independent Appointments Commission, which was created by a resolution of the House of Assembly in May.
Hogan has had several executive roles within the provincial government.
Most recently he was the assistant deputy minister of workforce development and immigration and assistant deputy minister labour market recruitment – major projects, department of advanced education, skills and labour.
He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Memorial University and a masters of business administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
While attending MIT he also completed graduate studies at Harvard Business School and the Kennedy School of Government.
Hogan is replacing current CEO Leslie Galway, whose contract ends Oct. 1.
