Driver plows into snow bank while evading police

A 46-year-old man was charged with impaired driving on the island's west coast following a high-speed chase on Friday night.

A 46-year-old man was charged with impaired driving on the island's west coast following a high-speed chase on Friday night.

RCMP were patrolling the community of Heatherton around 9 p.m., when they spotted a vehicle swerving in both lanes.

Police tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver started speeding ahead.

The roadway eventually came to a dead end, and police found the vehicle had plowed into a snow bank.

The driver, Davis Madore of Jeffrey's, was charged with impaired driving, evading police, and driving while prohibited.

He also had a warrant for failing to appear in Gander Provincial Court.

He was held for a court appearance.
