Trish Suvak of Conception Bay South stitches together colourful and intricate fabric and thread projects.

Patricia "Trish" Suvak prides herself on not using the same stitch twice in her crazy quilting projects.

"If you can draw it, you can probably stitch it into a crazy quilted piece," said Suvak.

Suvak said crazy quilting is different from ordinary quilting, in that decorative embroidery and other embellishments are added to quilted fabric before the piece is finished.

She has embroidered trilobite fossils, found in the nearby Manuels River bed, and fuschias – one of her favourite flowers – into her crazy quilting projects.

Suvak said she enjoys the artistic freedom that comes with crazy quilting.

"It allows me to play with threads and to play with colour," she said. "I find it stretches my imagination,"
