Suspect held in St. John's mall stabbing
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested a man in his 30s Tuesday evening after a stabbing at a St. John's shopping mall.
A man was stabbed in the arm and bled heavily outside the Village Mall, in the city's west end. Police said his life was not at risk after the incident, although the injury to his arm was described as serious.
Const. Jennifer Clarke said the stabbing victim appeared to be in his 40s or 50s.
A suspect was later found in the area, Clarke said.
After the arrest, a canine unit and officers were seen in streets and wooded areas near Columbus Drive and Canada Drive. It was not clear whether they were searching for a knife.
Large bloodstains could be seen outside the Labels store in the mall.
Police appealed to witnesses to step forward with any information they may have on the incident.
