Target closure: Which Newfoundland companies are owed what?

Target Canada will be shutting down all its stores across the country, so which Newfoundland and Labrador companies are owed money as the retailer prepares for liquidation?

Target Canada announced last week it would be shutting down operations at all its retail stores across Canada, meaning the two locations in Newfoundland will also close.

The company has been operating in Canada since March 2013, and lost almost $1-billion in the first year.

Earlier this week, the retailer announced customers can expect stores to go into liquidation in "about 2-3 weeks."

As the stores get ready to clear out the shelves and shut down operations, there are a number of local companies owed money.

  • Browning Harvey Ltd. in St. John's owed $36,452
  • TPW Pharmacy in Kippens owed $15,125
  • Swyer Pharmacy in Mount Pearl owed $13,567
  • E.L. Bugden in Corner Brook owed $11,931
  • Western Petroleum in Stephenville owed $8,886
  • Jumping Bean Coffee in St. John's owed $8,836
  • St. John's Board of Trade in St. John's $4,407
  • Toromont Cat in St. John's owed $3,000
  • Pharmacists' Association of Newfoundland and Labrador in St. John's owed $3,000
  • F.W. Wadden and Sons in St. John's owed $2,722
  • Roche's Auctioneering Services in St. John's owed $1,441

Pyramid Construction in St. John's is also owed money, but an amount has not been specified.
