David Whitelock is leaving his post as executive director of Yellowknife's summer music festival, Folk on the Rocks, after just two seasons on the job.
The festival's board of directors announced his departure in a news release Dec. 29.
"We wish him well in his future endeavours," the release reads, without explaining why Whitelock is leaving.
The festival's president, Ryan Fequet, also wouldn't elaborate, but according to financial documents, the festival lost $114,788 in 2014. A report in Edge YK magazine today says it lost a further $54,402 in 2015.
Whitelock declined to offer further details, but did tell the CBC "a full and detailed statement will be made in due course."
Originally from the U.K., Whitelock moved to Yellowknife in the spring of 2014 to take up the post.
