Watson Lake man charged with murder and dismembering a body

RCMP have charged Travis Dennis, 22, with second degree murder and dismembering a body. The charges are in connection with partial human remains found Saturday near Watson Lake.

RCMP in Watson Lake have arrested and charged a local man in connection with human remains found on a property near the community on Saturday.

22-year-old Travis Dennis has been charged with second degree murder, and dismembering a body.

According to police, the partial human remains were found Saturday afternoon on an industrial property outside Watson Lake. 

The court has ordered a ban on publishing the name of the deceased.

Yukon's coroner has ordered a forensic autopsy to be performed on Wednesday to confirm the identity of the victim.

Dennis was taken into custody in Watson Lake, and was due to be transported to the Whitehorse Correctional Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

He's scheduled to appear in Yukon territorial court on August 12.
