Yellowknife child in stable condition in Edmonton after fall
Witness saw boy lying motionless on ground beside window screen, was later medevaced to Edmonton
A young Yellowknife boy is in stable condition after the Yellowknife fire department responded to "a medical concern of a child falling from a specific height" on Sunday.
The City of Yellowknife Fire Division was dispatched to a residence on Ptarmigan Road around 1:20 p.m.
A neighbour, who CBC has agreed not to identify, said that around that time, they saw a young boy — about two years old — lying motionless in the driveway, beside a window screen that appeared to be from a second story window.
People then emerged from the home and brought the boy back inside. An ambulance arrived about 15 minutes later. The witness said the boy could be heard crying as he was brought to the ambulance.
According to city officials, the child was transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital. The child was then medevaced to Edmonton and is in stable condition, according to officials with the territory's health department.
Yellowknife RCMP say they have not received any calls to open an investigation into the incident.
