Halifax Regional Police say a death that was reported on Monday in Dartmouth is now being investigated as a homicide.

Police say they received a report of a disturbance in an apartment building on Pinecrest Drive Monday morning around 7:10 a.m.

In a news release sent out on Tuesday, they said officers located the body of a man inside the building.

Police then arrested a 47-year-old man who was known to the deceased at the scene. He was released later that day without charges.

The provincial medical examiner service ruled the death a homicide after conducting an autopsy.

Police said they believe this was not a random incident and are not looking for additional suspects at this time.

They are asking anyone with information or video from the area to contact authorities.
