A snake that went missing in a Halifax apartment building five days ago has been found dead.

The metre-long ball python caused alarm when it escaped from an apartment at 2327 Brunswick Street. On May 22, the building's owners warned residents the constrictor could harm babies and pets

A wildlife expert tore up the apartment looking for the snake, but did not find it.

On Tuesday, the building owner CAPREIT said the search was over.

"The snake was found dead, buried deep within a piece of the owner’s furniture," they said in a release.
