Halifax Regional Police say a man on a mobility scooter was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Monday after he was struck by a pickup truck in a crosswalk.

The man was attempting to cross Mumford Road at a busy intersection near the Halifax Shopping Centre when he was hit around 3 p.m. local time.

Police said in an email the driver of the pickup truck was issued a summary offence ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian at a walk light.

The man operating the scooter was taken to the Halifax Infirmary by EHS.

Photos from the scene on Monday appeared to show the scooter partially under the pickup truck in the aftermath of the collision.

Police and EHS had a section of Mumford Road partially blocked off. The road has since reopened.
