New Glasgow police have charged a 41-year-old man from New Glasgow with voyeurism after videos were uncovered showing people unaware they were being recorded in the staff washroom at the Westside Medical Clinic.

Const. Ken MacDonald said police received a complaint about voyeurism nine months ago. The suspect was arrested at the centre Tuesday at approximately 10:20 a.m.

"What I can tell you is that the staff washroom wasn't accessible to the public," MacDonald said.

MacDonald could not say how many recordings there were or what device was used to make them.

"Our New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit, with assistance of the RCMP Technological Crime Unit, seized computers and information," MacDonald said.

MacDonald said all the people in the videos have been identified.

The suspect has been released from custody on strict conditions and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Pictou Dec. 5.
