Oh deer! Fawn runs into Halifax house, sends family scrambling
Family captures fawn on video inside Halifax area house
A Halifax-area family is recovering from an eventful afternoon that saw a fawn run into their house.
Colin Harrington and his 11-year-old son, Cameron, caught footage of the baby deer outside their house before it ran inside at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
"He was like Bambi on ice," said Cameron.
Cameron had opened the door to their home to invite a friend into the house when he noticed the deer hiding under some bushes.
He immediately pulled out his iPad to start recording.
Colin Harrington had been on a conference call with a customer when he heard the commotion in the house.
"Actually it sounded pretty loud," he said. "I didn't expect to see a little bitty cute deer, I expected to see something with antlers."
He said he was worried the fawn would break a leg, the way it was sliding on the floors of their home.
Eventually he managed to pick up the fawn to get it out of the house.
The family said it hasn't been seen since and they're hoping it found its mother.
Harrington said his family see deer in their area regularly — there is a trail in the back of their house off the Bedford Highway.
