Transport truck carrying lobsters overturns on Kellys Mountain
No injuries reported in accident but truck sustained significant damage
A transport truck carrying lobsters overturned Thursday on Kellys Mountain in Victoria County, N.S., shutting down part of the Trans-Canada Highway while a cleanup ensued.
The truck, loaded with crates of lobsters, flipped onto its side and slid into a guardrail, sustaining significant damage.
There were no reported injuries and the westbound lanes were eventually reopened.
Nova Scotia RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Carlie McCann said officers were called to the scene to manage traffic while some of the truck's load that fell out in the accident was safely recovered.
"It can be a difficult area to drive in based on some tight turns and hills," said McCann. "Police attended in order to make sure that there was safety as the load was being recovered from the road and as people were in the area assessing what had took place."
RCMP have since left the scene and transportation crews were cleaning up what remained from the accident.
