Your choice for Ottawa's top patio
We reveal your top picks for drinks with a view
Whether it's the food, the atmosphere or the quality of the chairs, people in Ottawa hold strong opinions when it comes to where to hoist a pint on a sunny afternoon.
Last week, we asked for your top choices for Ottawa's best patios.
Some suggested spots with a nice breeze off the water. Others prioritized flowers, trees and tranquillity.
Some of you didn't want to share your secret spot, for fear of the hordes that would follow.
Kind of hesitant to vote as I don’t want everyone to know which patio is the best! 😉

Other had very specific standards.
Once we collected your entries and counted the votes, we discovered your favourite patios do have one thing in common: a spectacular view.
The top 3
But first, a look at the runners-up.
Coming in second was Kelly's Landing in Manotick, where patio patrons can watch the boats drift down the Rideau River while they enjoy a bite.
The clear winner, however, was Tavern on the Hill. It's tucked away in a hidden corner of Major's Hill Park, and offers stunning views the Ottawa River, the National Gallery and Parliament Hill's gothic spires.
It's popular with tourists and locals alike, who enjoy the comfort food — beer and hot dogs, mostly — and comfy couches under big red umbrellas.
Our Adrian Harewood and Lucy van Oldenbarneveld were handed the tough assignment of giving Tavern on the Hill a try.
From patios to picnics
Up next, we're turning from patios to picnics. Where's the best spot in the city to spread your blanket and enjoy a delicious meal in the the open air?
