A kayaker has a bystander to thank for rescuing them near the Deschênes Rapids Thursday night, Ottawa firefighters say.
A 911 call about a kayaker struggling in the water came in at around 6:40 p.m., firefighters said in a news release.
Ottawa and Gatineau firefighters dispatched water rescue crews, but it was a nearby boater who was able to reach the kayaker first and bring them to shore.
No one was injured.
