Former RCMP officer Jeffrey Gillis pleads guilty to one count of assault
Former RCMP officer Jeffrey Rae Gillis, 43, has pleaded guilty to one count of assault.
Gillis scheduled for sentencing in January
Former RCMP officer Jeffrey Rae Gillis, 43, has pleaded guilty to one count of assault.
Gillis was off duty when he "backhanded" a victim in a car in Charlottetown on Feb. 11. The victim's identity is protected by a court order.
One other count of assault was dropped. One count of uttering threats was stayed. Gillis is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 18.
Gillis retired from the force in February.
In a separate case, Gillis also faces 12 weapons-related charges, for which he has pleaded not guilty. That trial is scheduled for January.
