The province's minimum wage will go up by 22 cents an hour, from $10.50 to $10.72 beginning Oct. 1, 2016.

The government says there are about 23,200 workers who earn minimum wage, more than half of whom are under the age of 25 and working in the service industry.

Minimum wage is $11 an hour in Manitoba.

Alberta's minimum wage is $11.20 right now, but it's set to jump by a dollar to $12.20 on Oct. 1, 2016.
