A baby monkey at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo has a new name chosen by a public vote.

An online poll was held to choose the winning name after the zoo narrowed it down to four options: Evy, Laka, Zoila and Elena.

After more than 1,000 votes were cast, Evy was the name chosen for the infant Goeldi monkey born in February.

"The name couldn't be more fitting for this wonderful little animal and she is settling into it well," says zoo manager Tim Sinclair-Smith.

Evy and her parents can be seen at the monkey enclosure at the Kinsmen Children's Zoo exhibit year-round.

The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 pm. CST.
