Saskatoon roads, services still being affected by Sunday's snow storm
Priority 1 roads are now all open, but travel is still not recommended
Saskatoon city crews continues to open up more roads that were impassable after Sunday's massive snow storm.
Priority 1 roads in Saskatoon are all open and city crews should have all priority 2 roads open to traffic by noon, says a city news release.
But the city is still recommending to only travel if necessary, and in a large vehicle with four-wheel drive because of the snow and icy conditions.
The city does not typically grade snow from residential streets, but says this storm was a special situation.
"We recognize that this is an unusually large amount of snowfall, all at once, for our city," said Terry Schmidt, general manager of transportation and construction, in a statement.
"For this reason, we've decided to proceed with a plan to restore mobility on all roads, including residential streets."
Crews will work through residential streets, beginning with the most impacted.
The city says that if Saskatoon experiences more snowfall crews will need to prioritize higher traffic streets as per usual.
Civic facilities and services are still affected as follows:
