Police and First Nations officials have made an arrest in connection to the death of a 70-year-old man from M'Chigeeng on Manitoulin Island.
Kimel Corbiere, 26, has been charged with first degree murder. The Manitoulin Island man faces the charges in relation to the serious assault of John Panamick on May 11, police said.
The M'Chigeeng elder was found that night in his home by a neighbour. A month later he later died of his injuries in hospital.
Corbiere was expected to appear in a Gore Bay court on Friday.
