Sudbury Daystarter: Elliot Lake observes anniversary of mall collapse
ELLIOT LAKE: Today marks two years since the Elliot Lake mall collapse. On June 23rd, 2012, part of the roof of the Algo Centre mall caved in, injuring 20 people and killing two women. The flag at city hall will fly at half-mast in honour of their deaths.
LYME DISEASE: Parts of southern Ontario have seen a spike in cases of lyme disease this summer. One Sudbury man living with the disease says encounters with ticks should not be dismissed as bug bites. Hear his story on @MorningNorth at 8:10 a.m.
FOREST FIRES: The Ministry of Natural Resources firefighting base is going through a major upgrade. It serves the Sudbury area, but it is also a regional centre for the northeast. Hear more on @Morning North at 7:45 a.m.
RECALLS: Honda, Mazda and Nissan are recalling millions of vehicles because of defective airbags that could explode. Honda's recall alone will top 2 million vehicles, including a million in North America.

- Big Nickel Road: Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes during a major road improvement project on Big Nickel Road. Construction will reduce Big Nickel Road to one lane and rock blasting will halt traffic for up to 30 minutes, starting Monday, June 23. Blasting and road construction are scheduled Mondays to Fridays, between 8 a.m. and sunset, at least until July 31. The entrance to Dynamic Earth and the Big Nickel will remain open for the duration of construction with recommended access via Lorne Street to avoid delays.
- Fourth Avenue at Navanod Road in Sudbury will be reduced to one lane for a culvert repair on Monday, June 23. Paving is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, with additional lane closures.
- Starting Monday, June 23 until Friday, June 27 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. , shouldering and paving will reduce traffic to one lane on M.R. 15 from Highway 144 to Whitson River Bridge.
