Weather warnings and alerts
A number of winter storm and snowfall warnings remain in effect as of this morning across the northwest.
In response to a winter storm warning in effect for the area of Gillies Township, a Significant Weather Event has been declared.
The Township of Gillies is advising residents to use extra caution when travelling as the municipality may not be able to meet maintenance standards on roads due to the snowfall.
In a statement, the township said this declaration is not notice of a reduced level of service or a road closure. It is to notify the public that due to the current and forecasted conditions, caution is to be observed when travelling on roads maintained by the Township of Gillies.
Officials said it may take longer than usual to bring the roads back to optimal conditions.
