1 dead after park shooting in northwest Toronto
Police called to separate shooting and stabbing incidents on Wednesday night
A shooting near a park in northwest Toronto has left one man dead, Toronto police said on Wednesday night.
Paramedics were called to Rustic Road, near Jane Street and Black Creek Drive, around 6:30 p.m. after a man was shot. He was taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.
A Toronto police officer, who was with the victim in hospital, confirmed to CBC News he has died.
The man has not been identified at this time.
Toronto police cordoned off much of Rustic Park, as well as several nearby streets, and a K9 team was also dispatched to the scene.
Police haven't released any information about suspects at this time.
Parking lot stabbing sends man to hospital
Paramedics also raced one man to hospital with serious injuries around 6:33 p.m. after he was stabbed in the neck at 2825 Islington Ave., just north of Finch Avenue West.
Police said the victim is now conscious in hospital and is expected to survive.
Toronto police say the stabbing happened after the victim and two men got into an altercation in a high-rise parking lot.
When the altercation turned violent, the victim was stabbed in the neck and the two suspects fled the area.
Officers are now searching for the suspects, while a forensic team examines the crime scene.
