The newly acquired pitcher was blown away by the sold-out crowd and so was basketball star Kevin Durant, who was in attendance.

Toronto's newest starting pitcher, David Price, made his Blue Jays debut Monday in front of a sold-out crowd at the Rogers Centre and the vibe in the stadium appeared to impress NBA superstar Kevin Durant, who was caught on video capturing the crowd's reaction during the game.

"It blows me away," Price said of the video shot by CBC News Toronto reporter Greg Ross. "It's probably the coolest thing that happened to me, fan-wise."

Durant, the 2014 NBA MVP who has more than 11 million Twitter followers, was in the city to attend OVO Fest, an event he's been spotted at before. While in Toronto, he figured it would be a good opportunity to see Price's first game in Blue Jays colours.

"I heard about his debut and I wanted to check him out," Durant told CBC News from the stadium.

Price had no problem listing some of the Oklahoma City Thunder forward's well-deserved nicknames.

"Thanks, Kevin. KD Trey. Durantula," he said with a smile.

"It's awesome."

As for Durant, he was in awe with the Toronto crowd's level of excitement in Monday's game.

"That's how sports should be," he said. "It brings people together, unites us all and it's an exciting time."

The Blue Jays beat the Minnesota Twins 5-1.
