A Mississauga man faces both impaired driving charges and recovery from serious injuries after an overnight crash in Brampton. 

Police were called the scene of the single-vehicle wreck near Embleton and Mississauga roads at about 4 a.m. on Sunday. 

The 23-year-old man at the wheel had been critically injured and was airlifted to hospital. 

Peel Regional Police said later in the morning his condition has been upgraded to stable, and that he has been arrested and charged with impaired driving.

The man was the only person in the car. 

Mississauga Road was closed from Embleton Road to Queen Street for the investigation. It has since been reopened.
