Man shot in the leg on a Scarborough residential street, police say

A man was shot in the leg late Monday night in a suburban Scarborough neighbourhood.

Police said witness reported hearing five to six shots and a car speeding away

The man has a gunshot wound on his lower left calf and is being treated in the hospital. (CBC)

A man is recovering Tuesday after he was shot in the leg late Monday night in a residential neighbourhood in Scarborough. 

Toronto Police said they received a call at around 11:48 p.m. Monday from a witness who heard five to six shots and a car speeding away.

The shooting happened on Empringham Drive near Sewells Road — a neighbourhood in the Morningside Avenue and Finch Avenue East area.

The victim suffered one gunshot wound to his lower left calf. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police are still investigating.
